Most
people, would consider after midnight, the wrong time for a visit. Xander wasn't most
people...and neither was Lexine. So after twelve thirty something in the night, Xander found himself at
Lexine's apartment door.
He
looked around the hall of the third floor of the apartment building. There was
only one door on this floor, Lex's. A dark wood double door.
He
raised his hand to knock. Stopped in the middle of the action and considered
what exactly he was doing there. He'd been in the neighborhood really...and had
gotten the over whelming urge to talk to the fire elemental. Just really talk.
There
was a lot of unresolved issues between them and Xander had been mulling over
them for quite some time.
With
a sigh, he let his fist knock on the door, before shoving his hands in his coat
pockets and waiting.
Lex
looked up from his book, glanced at the clock then at the door. Why was it,
every time he just settled down to actually read, some one came calling. With a
sigh, he put the book mark back in his book and got up off the couch. He was
wearing a black tank top and gray pj pants and his hair was in a loose pony
tail, held by his imfamous black ribbon.
Making
his way over the door, he unlocked one, but left the security chain on, and
cracked open the door. He blinked in a surprise, seeing Xander on his door step
and raised an eyebrow. "Its a little late, isn't it Xander?" He asked
finally, in a soft tone.
"Is
it?" Xander inquired with a shrug. "I was in the neighborhood..."
He said as if that explained it all and watched Lex quirk an eyebrow. "I
was...I sorta figured...well you know...there's some things we need to talk
about..." He trailed off, shuffled his feet and shrugged again.
Lex
looked at Xander a long moment, then closed the door a bit to undo the chain,
before opening it up again, wider, admitting Xander to his apartment with out a
word. Once Xander was inside, Lex shut the door and began moving back toward
the couch.
He
paused, and looked at Xander who was still standing near the door with his
hands in his pockets. Lex raised his eye brow again, and gestured to the couch.
"You can sat down you know..."
"Faal
not here?" Xander asked, looking at Lex finally.
"No,
he had some business to attend to." Lex answered. "You want a drink?
I've got an open bottle of wine in my fridge that needs to be drank..."
Lex added, heading toward the kitchen.
Xander
watched Lex head toward the kitchen. He glanced about the living room. He'd
only been to the apartment once or twice. Not a lot had changed, except the
absence of anything that had belonged to Rowen. And here and there, he could
detect things of Faal's.
Lex
emerged from the kitchen a few minutes later with two glasses of wine and
passed one to Xander, who was still standing about.
"Will
you sit down?" Lex asked, a touch annoyed.
Xander
took a sip of the wine and planted himself on the couch. He watched Lex sip his
own wine, set the glass on the coffee table and light a cigarette.
"Silence
is hardly talking, Xander..." Lex said softly, watching his cigarette
rather then look at the Ice Elemental.
Xander
chuckled softly, if not a touch nervous and said. "Yeah, I know... Look,
first of all, I want to apologize...for you know...how things have been between
us..."
Lex
raised an eyebrow, taking a long drag. 'You show up after midnight, to say this?" He asked incrediously.
"You could have just waited until morning..."
"I
don't exactly want to say it infront of everyone." Xander muttered into
his glass. "After all, in case you haven't noticed, Eire
doesn't like me..."
"I
wonder why..." Lex replied dryly.
"Look,
I'm refraining from calling you Cupcake, but if you keep it up..." Xander
retorted with a look. "I just figured we could be grown up enough to put
this behind us...but obviously..." He gave Lex a pointed look.
"Obviously
what? That you insist on bringing up old wounds, better left untouched?"
Lex asked with a slightly cold tone, taking another long drag.
"Appearently
we have two different ways of looking at it, Lexine. If you'd rather not have
those wounds heal, then, what ever." Xander said, setting the glass on the
table and started to get up.
"You
really wanna talk about this shit, Xander?" Lex snapped back.
"If
it's not talked about, Lexine, it's only going to drag out things worse between
us!" Xander fired back, but found himself flopping back down on the couch.
"I came to apologise, Lex! And I mean it! I can't deny, what you did to
me...for fuck's sake, I had it pretty bad for you at one point. But I've moved
on. I've gotten over it!"
Xander
watched Lex turn his eyes to the fire place and a fire sprang up, just at Lex's
thoughts. Xander was impressed. An Elemental could do it, but usually it took
an older elemental, with more control. Admittedly, and after much learning
under his former mistress, Xander learned how to conjure ice at a thought, but
had no idea Lex had mastered his fire that much.
Lex
didn't look at Xander, watching the fire burn. He took another drag, tapped the
ashes off in the near by ash tray and took a sip of wine. He was all to aware
of what he'd 'done' to Xander as Xander put it and that Xander had been more
then a little infatuated with Lex at one point in their lives.
Lex
was seven years younger then Xander, but possibly much more mature. Xander had
been proving lately he wasn't as immature as he once was.
Still,
there, were two incidents that stood out the most in Lex's mind that was the
problem between them. One was his fault, the other Xander's. He was loathe to
bring up either, but knew it was going to happen, so he hit Xander with the one
that had been the ice elemental's fault first.
"You
think after what you did to me when I was 17, that I'd forgive you?" He
sneered, turning his eyes back to Xander, which suddenly flashed with Absinthe
fire. His free fist was clentched and it was taking a LOT of self restraint not
to either hit Xander in the face, or set him on fire.
"Lex...I..."
Xander started to speak softly, knowing what Lex was speaking of, but Lex cut
him off sharply.
"You
raped me, Xander..."
Xander
was silent for a long moment, not looking at Lex. When he finally did speak, he
was holding back on a sudden rush of emotion so his voice was broken. "You
think...I don't...regret that?!" He asked with a hiss. "I regret it
more then you know, Lexine... But I'm not that person any more..." Xander
finally looked at Lex, swallowing the lump in his throat, and since he
obviously needed a defense, he fired back. "What about Evie, Lexine?! If it
hadn't been for you, what ever you did that night, Evie would still be
alive!"
"Evie
didn't HAVE to hide me! I begged her not to!" Lex snapped back, the tears
already prickling. "I never ASKED for Evie to give a damn about me. It was
so much easier when no one did there, Xander! You all should have just left me
to Abadon and been done with it!"
"How
can you say that?!" Xander snapped. "You think any of us could STAND
the idea of what Abadon was doing to you? Evie especially! We where all
innocents born into that hell..."
"Maybe
you were, Xander. Maybe you and Evie were...but I was destined to end up
there." Lex replied struggling to keep the tears out of his voice.
"Don't
even say that! No one deserves or is destined to end up under Abadon!"
Xander spat. "I don't know how you could think that..."
"When
did you get so rightous Xander?" Lex muttered, wiping at a cheek.
"I'm
not, I'm just telling the truth. And for your information, Evie's death wasn't
your fault... it was Abadon's...if she hadn't hidden you...you might not think
so, but Abadon took his anger mostly out on Evie...not you..." Xander
muttered, looking away.
"You're
a fucking hypocrite, Xander." Lex growled, getting up off the couch and
heading toward the kitchen.
He
heard Xander getting up as well, and he kept on talking. "You blame ME for
Evie's death and the turn around and say it wasn't. Make up your fucking
mind!"
"I'm
telling you, it wasn't your fault. I blamed you once, but not any more. If
anyone's at fault its that bastard..." Xander set the glass on the
coffee table and followed Lex toward the kitchen.
Lex
had started to put up the dishes from the dishwasher, and Xander knew it was
for something to do rather then sit around. "Lex, will you just..."
Xander trailed off as Lex spun around, glaring at him. Xander hadn't realized
Lex had started crying.
"Will
I just WHAT?!" Lex cried, wiping furiously at his cheeks. "I'm
putting up with you dragging open old wounds, what the fuck is it that you
want?!" He demanded, slamming a cabinet closed behind him and glaring
through the tears at Xander.
Xander
steeled himself, things had to be said before anything else could happen. He
hated to say it, but,. "Cry me a fuckin' river, Lex." Xander growled.
A glass slammed into the wall over his shoulder. They stood there, glaring at
each other. "The only reason they're old wounds is because you refuse to
move on! Dwell on the past if you want to, Lex, it's only going to cost you in
the end." Xander said with a cold tone. "Now I'm sorry! Sorry for
what I did, and for what I've said. Go ahead and spend the rest of your life
like this. You bitch about everyone treating you so...fragile. Suck it up and
show 'em other wise, Lexine!"
Lex
slammed a base cabinet door so hard, it cracked, as he turned to face Xander.
"Get out." Lex breathed, "I will NOT take this from You!"
"But
you'll take it from everyone else?" Xander asked scathingly.
"You
think you know me SO fuckin' well, Alexander, you don't know SHIT about
me!" Lex snapped, "YOU, like everyone else in this fucking nightmare,
are the reasons I am the way I am!"
"What
you are, is on the verge of a nervous break down." Xander snapped back.
"Yeah,
and you're not helping matters!" Lex screamed, slamming a collection of
plastic bowls into another cabinet.
"Oh,
I'm sure Faal and the others will be more then happy to OBSERVE you from a
little window in a door for the rest of your life." Xander replied
sarcastically, before yelping as Lex lunged at him.
He
managed to grab Lex's wrists, before his nails got any where near his face.
Xander slid one leg between Lex's and used the move to throw him off balance
shoving him back. Lex was a viritual hellion at the moment, and Xander realized
he was out for blood.
"Lex..."
He said as calmly as he could, trying to put some room between him and Lex.
"I
hate you so much, for what you did to me..." Lex hissed. Xander had never
seen Lex so...emotional, the hurt was just as evident as the anger. "You
were the only thing I had left after Evie and look at what you did!"
"Lexine...gods..."
Xander ran his hands through his hair. "I regret that, SO much...you have
no idea how much I regret it..." He said earnestly. "I'm trying
to-"
Lex's
hand seized something. "You CAN'T make it better!" He screamed,
before lunging again. They were half out the kitchen now. Xander saw the flash
of metal in the form of a paring knife and did the only thing he could at the
moment. He slapped Lex across the face, before grabbing Lex's wrist, twisting
hard. Lex cried out, and Xander twisted Lex's arm up and behind his back,
grabbing a hold of him. "Just...stop...Lex..." Xander growled,
catching his breath, holding a rigid and submissive Lex.
Faal
was half way across the apartment before he even realized what was going on.
all he knew was as he opened the door, Lex was yelling. "Lex! Xander, what
the HELL is going on!! Lex.. drop the knife Lex!"
Faal
dashed to Xander's side and took the knife away from Lex then wrapped his arms
around him from behind and pulled him away from Xander. "Sweet Terra..
what is going on!?!"
Xander
stumbled back, away from a Lex who was staring at him with unbelievably
frightening eyes. Xander stared back, slightly wide eyed, catching his breath.
He barely heard Faal. "Not exactly what was SUPPOSED to be going
on..." Xander muttered. He saw Lex's eyes flash. Lex was caught somewhere
between submitting and drawing blood, it was a rather frightening mood to see
him in.
"Jesus,
no wonder you can't take an apology..." Xander muttered, rubbing his
forehead.
"Apology?!"
Lex squeaked hysterically, then attempted to scramble out of Faal's arms, and
lunge at Xander again. Faal held on. Xander took a few more steps back.
"Did
I stutter?! You knew I'd only come to apologize in the first place! It's you
who decided to go Bunny Boiler on me!" Xander retorted.
"OOoH!
I am so fucking goin' t' bloody fuckin' hell HURT ye!" His fingers curled,
still trying to scramble out of Faal's arms, "Fuckin' 'ell, Let me the
fuck go!! Xander ya fuckin' slimey bastard! Ya completely fuckin' shit head for
brains asshole! LET ME GOOO!"
Xander
stared at Lex for a long moment, then couldn't help it, he started chuckling
nervously.
"Don't
ye DARE!" Lex growled, pausing a moment, then renewed his attempts to get
out of Faal's arms.
Xander
looked at Faal. "Man, I did NOT mean for THIS to happen..." He said
seriously.
Lex
had gone very still, breathing heavily and glaring at Xander through locks of
hair. Xander looked back at him. Then realized something. "Dude...you're
smokin'..." He said to Faal softly, one hand reaching for a near by
serving tray...
Faal
grimaced and tightened his hold on Lex. "Thank you .. yes... a tad warm
back here. " He lifted Lex off the floor. "Lexine! Calm down, love!
Lards, Xander.. what did you say to get this reaction out of him?!? Even I
never got this! Lex, sweetheart, you get any hotter and i'm throwing you in the
shower and holding you under." Faal turned a serious yet slightly awed
look at Xander, completely taken aback by Lex's behavior. "Xander, perhaps
if you said whatever it was you came here to say... "
Xander shook his head. "Thats the thing, I've been tryin' ALL this
time..." Xander muttered. Lex was still glaring wildly through the
hair hanging in his face. "Lex, PLEASE, don't make this any worse then it
already is..." Xander pleaded desperately. "I really only DID come
here tonight to apologize. I'm not asking you to forgive me, you probably
can't. I just don't want things to get any worse between us...especially for
Evie..."
"NO!"
Lex cried, going quite hysterical again. "You can NOT use her like
this!" He raged, again trying to tear out of Faal's arms. His fingers,
which were trying despertly to get at Xander, were already covered in flames
and he thrust a hand out, sending the fire at Xander.
Xander
reacted quite quickly, covering the serving tray with ice. "LEX!"
Lex
stomped down hard on Faal's foot and scrambled, finally breaking free
some. "I HATE YOU!" He cried, still trying to get at Xander.
Faal
cursed and lunged to grab Lex again, ignoreing the pain of several small burns.
"XANDER!! Quick.. turn the shower on! "He yelled, struggling to get
the best hold possible on a struggling Lex. "Lexine, enough. You're
plainly hysterical. I've stepped aside to let you deal with your problems as
well as you could, but this PROVES you're not capable of doing that. I'm making
you an appointment with a therapist and you are GOING! And if you refuse, I'll
have your father commit you for your own safety as well as that of others."
He said as he carried a struggling screaming Lex towards the bathroom.
"For Terra's Sake, Lex, you're attacking Xander and burning me in your
anger.. something is being DONE about it."
He
ripped Lex free of the door frame and slipped around Xander aiming for the
shower. A brief internal debate on how it would be best accomplished, and he
just stepped into the shower himself, forcing Lex under the cold spray.
Lex
screamed, choked on water, spat and screamed again. He withered and twisted
under the cold water, screaming and fighting. The temperature in the room was
rising and steam was beginning to appear. "I WILL NOT!!" He screamed,
shaking his head wildly. "I WILL....NOT!" He smacked Faal has hard as
he could in the shoulder and resumed wiggling.
The
steam was increasing in the bathroom, growing heavier. Xander paused, he didn't
think it was all steam...He moved to the door and ripped it open, and indeed
detected a faint wisp of smoke. "Son of a bitch, Lexine, what the fuck did
you do?!" Xander growled, shooting the fire elemental a look, before going
to try and track down the source of the smoke.
"I
hate you! I hate Xander, I hate Rowen, I hate everyone! LET ME GO!" Lex
screamed, now clawing to get free. There was a trace of hysterical tears mixed
in with the rage. He glared at Faal, pausing in trying to tear away. "Let
me go Faal!" His tone was quite cold.
Faal
squeezed tighter and tried to hold him while he grabbed his hands to stop from
being clawed any further. From the feel of things his chest was burnt rather
nicely and his arms were no doubt sporting some very nice claw marks. His hands
were beyond painful and he didn't want to look at them.
"No,
Lex, I will most certainly NOT let you go. I love you and I will not stand by
and let you hurt yourself like this any longer. I'm sorry, Lex, but it's for
your own good. XANDER!! I think you're going to have to call Auron... I don't
think I can handle him on my own..."
Xander had grabbed the fire extingisher from the kitchen and was putting out
the small fire that had errupted on the sofa, when he heard Faal's yell.
"Right!" He yelled back, before dropping the fire extinger once the
flames were out and grabbed his cellphone. He dialed the number.
"Hi
Auron...it's Xander...yesh, I know its the middle of the night...but we gotta
problem...you need to get over to Lex's...No he's not...hurt...yet...but he's
on a good path of hurting himself and no doubt Faal's sporting some burns. He's
flipped man!" Xander said despertly, before grabbing the fire extinigisher
again as the flames sprang up again.
He
heard a muffled noise, then Auron say he'd was coming. Xander hung up, focused
on the flames and looked up to see the shadow portal blossom before Auron
appeared, in jeans and t-shirt.
"Where
is he?" Auron growled. Xander pointed to the bathroom, where Lex could be
heard screaming to be let go and water running.
Xander
had emptied the fire extingisher and dropped it, turning his hand over and
freezing the whole thing. The flames died.
Auron
stormed into the bathroom, slamming the door open. He took one look at Lex,
trying to scratch and tear at Faal under the shower and Lex's screaming and
moved over the shower. "Excuse me." Auron growled, before grabbing a
hold of Lex's wrist. "You will stop this, RIGHT now." Auron snarled.
His voice was very soft, very cold and very authoritative. Lex had never heard
it before, ever and he stopped, staring wide eyed at Auron. "You are BEYOND
ridiculous at this moment, Lexine." Auron continued, Lex gave a cry,
recovered his hellion attitude and began trying to tear away from both of them
now. Auron fought with him a moment, before grabbing Lex's other wrist. He gave
Lex a quick spin, turning him around, his arms crossed over his chest, with
Auron still holding his wrists and forced Lex to his knees under the shower.
"You've
brought this on yourself, Lexine." Auron hissed. "Xander!" Auron
yelled.
Xander
appeared in the door. The moment he had, Auron hoisted Lex to his feet, still
holding him in the same hold. A shadow portal opened up, and Auron dragged Lex
toward it. Lex went balistic, screaming, kicking and fighting. "His legs,
Xander!" Auron growled. Xander attempted to grab Lex's legs, got kicked a
few times, managed to get a hold of them and pinned them together. He and Auron
dragged Lex through the portal.
Which
opened up in a small waiting room. There was a woman in a white coat, and three
orderlies with a gurney. "I got your message." The woman said as
Auron and Xander wrestled Lex to the gurney.
"He's
completely snapped." Auron growled, as he and the orderlies began doing
something. Lex saw noticed, and began screaming and crying, struggling against
them as they began strapping him to the gurney. "Please, DONT" He
pleaded. "Don't do this!"
Auron
tightened the strap on a wrist and looked at him seriously. "You brought
it on yourself." Lex twisted and writhed, held by the straps, still
screaming and sobbing. The woman in the white coat moved forward with a
prepared syringe. Lex saw the needle and went even more hysterical, begging.
She looked at Auron for his say. Auron nodded grimly and the doctor, took Lex's
arm and injected the sedative.
Faal
stood just behind Auron and watched Lex, his eyes stinging from unshed tears.
He couldn't stand to see Lex like this... so terrified, so... lost. He watched
as Lex struggled against the straps and cried out to them to help and did his
best not to jump in and free him. It was for the best. Lex needed help and he would
never seek it on his own...
He
sighed as Lex's struggles lessened and the sound of weeping grew.
"Xander..." he said softly, barely above a whisper. "I think we
need to talk..."
A
nurse looked up at him and gave a gasp. "My GOD! What happened to you! You
need to have those taken care of!"
Faal
looked confused as she came bustling over and started fretting over over him.
It was only them then he realized he'd been more right then he knew about the
extent of his injuries. Several deep gouges in his arms bleed freely, and his
shirt hung in ruined tatters.. both from scratches and burns. His chest was a
red mass covered in blisters from where he'd held Lex so tightly. And his
hands... well...
Lex
had stopped fighting, as the orderly began moving the gurney to the back, but
he was sobbing. Auron watched them wheel Lex through the door, to an
examination room. The woman in the white coat moved forward.
"Auron..."
Auron shook his head, Lex's sobs and crying could still be heard. "You
know I didn't want to have to do this, Ally. He just didn't leave much
choice."
"Well,
he's been sedated, and those are five point restraints... We're perparing a
room right now...but it'll be the observation room for the night." The
doctor said softly.
"Just
let him out of the restraints in there, if possible." Auron said. The
doctor nodded.
"There's
some information I need...and...you'll have to sign a few things, consent forms
and such."
Auron
nodded again, taking out his cellphone. "I'm going to call Claricefirst,
then I'll sign." She nodded in reply. Auron moved to the other side of the
waiting room, calling Chaos. He knew it was late, but he felt she had a right
to know first. "Mon cher, I apologize for the time." Auron said
softly first. "But I'm committing Lex."
**
Lex
struggled weakly against the restraints as the orderly left. When the door
closed, he began screaming again, sobbing. Restrained to the bed was one thing,
being restrained to the bed, ALONE was quite another and he was terrified, he
just wanted some one else in the room.
*
Chaos
went speechless at the news. She sat up in bed and just stared at nothing.
"Commited? Where.. I'll be right there, Auron.. " she hung up the
phone and lept from the bed, quickly dragging on jeans and a tshirt. She called
Sylvie and quickly explained the situation, then she slid her feet into the
quickest things available, which were a pair of sandals poking out from her
closet and opened a shadow portal. She was still running her fingers through
her hair as she emerged into the hall and ran off in search of Auron.
*
Xander
had been pushed out of the way by the nurse, who was already examining Faal.
Xander ran his fingers through his hair in a nervous gesture. "Faal, I
REALLY had no idea Lex was going to go balistic. I didn't. If I had, I'd never
have even come by."
Lex
could still be heard, screaming and sobbing, although the sound was fainter,
but it still upset Xander. He fidgeted, rather worried.
Auron
was again speaking with the doctor. "Does he have a history of attempted
suicide?" She asked.
Auron
snorted. "Probably. He cuts, or did cut. He doesn't talk about it. Sort
one of those unspoken truths." He glanced over at the main door to the
waiting room as Chaos came in, he gave her a wry sad smile.
"How
long as he been like this?" The doctor asked.
"Awhile,
Ally." Auron replied tonelessly, looking back at her. "Look Ally,
he's a fire elemental..."
Ally
smirked slightly. "We deal with this kind of thing here, remember, that's
why we're a quiet, PRIVATE hospital." She replied. "Still, we have to
make it offical. The consent forms are made up for hospitalization for a
two week period. At the end of two weeks, he'll be evaluated, and if he needs
more time, he'll get it. There's also the consent for medication, and isolation
if needed. Not to mention the restraints..."
"He
can't handle the restraints." Auron replied.
Ally
shook her head. "We cant just sedate him all the time, medication could
have long term damage if used to much. And if he's a danger to himself, as much
or MORE then others, as well as a danger to others, he has to be
restrained."
"God,
I didn't want to have to do this..." Auron muttered with a sigh, shaking
his head.
"I
can let one of you back there with him now, it might help...but it would have
to be some one less likely to provoke him again..." Ally said, looking at
all of them.
Faal glanced up. He wanted to be in there but he was afraid Lex would be too angry
with him. He glanced at Chaos but sighed. "It's not fair that you should
have to always go and pick up the pieces, Clarice.. and Xander isn't high on
his list of favorite people right. "I'd like to go if it's alright with
his father..."
The
nurse was busy tutt-tutting over his blistered hands." You need these
taken care of, sir. Burns have a high infection rate.."
Faal
sighed and shook her off. "I'll heal... Lex may not..." he said
softly and turned to look at Auron. "Auron...?"
Auron
smiled grimly and gestured. "You stand a better chance then I do at the
moment." He said.
Ally
moved to open the door to the rooms, admitting Faal. She led the way over to
the examination room Lex was in. At the far end of the hall was a room with a
large double paned, and wired window, showing an empty room beyond. The door
had a key code lock. That was the observation room.
Lex
was still sobbing although it was not as hysterical, and he was hiccuping on
the tears. He'd stopped struggling against the restrains, the sedative making
him unable to do more then cry and turn his head toward the door when it
opened. "I wanna go home! Please..." He sobbed.
*
Xander
ran a hand over his face, considering what the best plan of action is. Auron
had signed all the concent forms, and was standing near by with Chaos. Xander
sighed. It really wasn't even his place to be there. In a way, it'd been his
fault. If he'd just kept walking, rather then stopping at the apartment, but
no. And now this...He could leave, just tell them to keep him updated, and go.
But
he couldn't really go. A bigger part of him refused. Still, he needed some air
and a cigarette would be nice. "I'll be right back..." he muttered,
"I'm going to step outside..." he headed for the door, past Chaos and
Auron. He figured, they'd just think he'd leave..."I mean, just for a
minute." he found himself saying at the door. He couldn't leave. He
couldn't stand the idea of walking away from this now.
He
moved through the hall, and out the main door, looking around. There was a no
smoking sign near the door, but a little ways off was an area with a bench and
an outside ashtray. Xander moved over to it, lighting a cigarette. He stood
there, just thinking and smoking.
*
Auron
turned his head, watching Xander leave and frowned. He sighed and looked at
Chaos. "God, Clarice, I never wanted to do this, to Lex..."
"Auron..."
she said as she stroked his face. "If it was bad enough for you to do
this, then you didn't have a choice. I saw Faal... if Lex did that, then you
did the right thing. He LOVES Faal.. he would never hurt him..." She slid
one hand around his waist and pulled him closer to her. "Lex has a hard
life and he's always held it in. We all knew it was building and sooner or
later would come out... it's far better for it to happen here and now then at a
time when no one was there to help..."
Chaos
carressed Auron's face. "I don't think any of us did, Auron. We all knew
he needed help, but I don't think any of us ever imagined just how badly. But
he's here now, and he'll get that help. We all love him, Auron. I feel as if he
is my son, and not just yours... we'll see him through this..."
*
Faal
stood in the doorway a moment and looked at Lex. His heart felt like it was
going to break seeing him laying there, strapped down and crying to go home. He
swallowed hard and moved to the side of the bed. A chair appeared beside him
and he sank down in it, not even registering who it was that had put it there.
"L..Lexi,
love.. you can't go home. You need to stay here for a while. I'm sorry sweetie,
but.. it's for the best." He held his hand sin his lap, suddenly sorry he
hadn't let the nurse wrap them so he could at least hold Lex's hand.
Lex
tried to move again, to see better, to get more comfortable, but four point
restraints made that impossible. "Why?" He cried in a whisper. He
just wanted to go home, he didn't want to be here. And he definitely didn't
want to be in the restraints. he was terrified of being restrained, tied up,
anything like this.
"Faal
please..." Lex whimpered. The seditive had cut through the rage and
hysterical anger, but even Ally had a feeling that was far easier to deal with
then the submissive, lost boy it left in it's place.
Faal choked back a sigh and stood up, moving to sit on the edge of the bed
where Lex could see him better. "Lexi... I know you're scared, love...
but... you have to stay here." he started to reach out to brush his hair
out of his eyes but paused with his hand in mid air, then sighed and did it
anyhow.
The
portal opened and Sylvie found herself standing in the admitting room and asked
quietly about Lex. "I'm sorry, but we can't give out any information
unless you're family..." Sylvie smiled softly. "It's okay.. I don't
want to see him personally. I know his father is here..."
the
nurse nodded and pointed to a door. Sylvie nodded and turned to go when she
caught a hint of movement under a street light outside. She stepped up to the
door and looked out, seeing Xander collapse onto a bench. She pushed open the
door, shivering slightly at the cool air that greeted her, and walked to stand
in front of him. "Kay called me and told me Lex was brought here... are
you okay?"
Lex
whimpered plantively, tears slipping down his cheeks and over his neck, which
made him shiver, he ended up trembling and hiccuping. "I jus..wanna go
home...." He sobbed, hiccuping on the words. "Please...." He
whimpered. He didn't quiet notice Faal's hand. When he did, it only made him
cry more.
**
Auron sighed, holding her, "I just never quiet imagined having to commit
one of my sons, even for two weeks..." He said softly. "But nor can I
even think of the idea of him getting anyworse...And I never quiet imagined Lex
could do that, even in a rage..." He meant about what Lex had done to Faal.
Xander startled and looked up, chunking the half spent cigarette away.
"God, I don't know...I've never seen Lex like that...he just...lost it.
And all because I apologized..." he muttered, resting his arms on his
knees, hands clasped together. "Now I feel like this," He gestured
with his chin to the small private hospital, 'Is my fault...And I should
leave...before it gets worse, but I can't...I can't just walk away like that..."
Sylvie
sat beside him and slipped an arm around him. "Xander. You can't blame
yourself. Everybody knew Lex was a walking time bomb emotionally... you just
happened to be the one there when it went off. He should've been in some sort
of therapy a long time ago. Trust me.. some one who knows, speaking here."
she laid her head on his shoulder and slipped her other hand over his arm to
take his hand in hers. "You should stay as long as you need to. You're his
friend.. one of theoldest he has... he just can't see that right now."
**
Faal
sat back, letting his hands fall back in his lap. "Lexi.. please.. calm down.
They'll make me leave if you get too upset... unless you want me to go?"
"N-n-o!"
That was even more hysterical. But Lex took a deep breath, gulping for air,
ended up hiccuping more, but managed to some what stop sobbing. He looked at
Faal, eyes rather wide, still sparkling with tears and red. He was still
trembling and whimpering.
Outside
in the hall, the nurse and Ally stood talking quietly a moment, before Ally
took a clip board and entered the room. She dragged a stool over the side of
the bed. Lex looked at her wide eyed, eyeing the clipboard. Ally smiled warmly.
"Hi Lex, my name's Ally, I know your dad. I know you're not going to like
this, and I know you don't want to be here right now. But I've got to ask you a
few questions, and then I think maybe..." She tapped the restraint with
her pen.
"Do
you know where we are?" She asked gently.
"I'm
assuming it's a hospital." Lex replied a bit sarcastically, while still
hiccuping. Ally smiled. She remembered a long time before, when she'd met
Auron, from being a nurse stitching him up. she'd asked him the same question,
and got the same sarcasim.
"Fairview
Private Hosptial, yes." Ally answered. "Okay Lex, can you tell me
your birthday?"
"August
12th," Lex muttered.
"A
Leo and a fire elemental, dangerous combination. " ally said with a bit
more of a smile. "Do you remember who brought you?"
Lex
nodded mutely. Ally sighed. "Alright, Lex, I'm required by law, to tell
you this now," She said softly, shifting on the stool. "Your father,
Auron has given his consent for us to hospitlize you for two weeks. In that
amount of time, you'll be placed in therapy, and if need be, on medication. Now
you can refuse the medication, but you're required by law to accept the
treatment, it's possible at the end of two weeks, if there's no improvement,
you will can be hospitlized longer, at which point, the medication will be
forced."
Lex
stared at her, eyes quiet wide.
Ally
looked at Lex for a long moment, before standing. She undid the restraints.
'I'm going to warn you now, Lex. IF you become aggitated and persent harm to
yourself or anyone else again, it'll be a straight jacket the next time."
She said softly.
Lex
stared at her, shrinking away. "There's a few more things to take care of,
then I think we can move you to a privet room." She added, picking up the
clip board and moving toward the door, leaving.
Faal
just sat there, a puzzled frown on his face. When Ally had left he looked to
Lex. Everything about LEx's behavior had been very wrong tonight, but
everything else had sort made sense.. he'd freaked out over something too
emotional for him to handel, he'd freaked out even more about being brought
here... but one thing had no sense to it at all... "Lex... why did you lie
about your birthday?" he asked softly.
**
Xander
sighed, and stroked one of her hands with his thumb. "I just hope this
place does him good, instead of any more harm."
His
cellphone went off at that moment. He took it out and saw Rue's number, with a
slight frown, he answered. "Xander, do you know where Lex is?!" Rue's
voice was a bit strained.
"yeah...why?"
Xander asked with aslight tone.
"His
apartment is burning...." Rue answered in the same strained tone.
"WHAT?!
Are you?! Oh fuckin' hell..." Xander groaned. "Rue, Auron's just had
Lex commited...I thought i put out that fire...god he must've started another
one..."
"Committed?!
WHERE!? never mind, I know where. I'm coming..." Rue hung up.
Xander
stared at his phone a moment, before saying to Sylvie bitterly. "Lex's
apartment is burning..."
Sylvie
sat back with a surprised look on her face. "Oh... " she surged to
her feet. "We should let Auron know... Oh lord, Xander! Lex had a cat! Oh
I hope the poor thing got out okay..." She stood in front of him, still
holding his hand. "Do you want to stay here or should we go to the
apartment and see what we can do there? I'll be with you either way.."
'Rue's
on her way here. Once she gets here, we'll go to the apartment, see what can be
salvaged at least." Xander said softly, heading back into the hospital and
the waiting room, still holding Sylvie's hand.
Once
inside, he didn't even let go of her hand, it was just a source of calmness for
him. He went over to Auron and Chaos. "We've got a problem. Lex's
apartment...is burning..." He said softly.
Rue bust through the door just behind Xander and Sylvie. She went over to the
other four. "How bad is it?" Auron asked through clenched teeth.
"It's
not good...It was just the third floor, the other apartments were pratically
untouched..." Rue replied softly. "Whats more, it seems to have
started...in the room Lex converted into his library..." That was enough
to tell anyone Lex needed help, he'd be very upset when he learned his books
were gone.
Chaos and Sylvie exchanged looks and both sighed. Chaos looked to Rue.
"Lex is pretty bad, Rue.. he went completely ballistic on Xander and Faal.
Faal took the brunt of it because he was holding him back.. he's in with Lex
now. We'd like to get him out of there so his injuries can be taken care of,
but I have the feeling he's going to be incredibly stubborn about leaving Lex."
Sylvie
leaned her head against Xander's arm and wondered how none of them had seen
this coming this soon. She thought by the expression on Rue's face she was
probably thinking along the same lines. "Well, as for the boy's books, at
least he's still got the Archive and of course Faal spoils him rotten in the
personal library department.. the only one I know for sure he'll miss is the
one Faal gave him for Valentine's...."
"What
about the cat?" Xander asked Rue softly.
Rue
snorted. "Aloysius got out fine. And he'll probably resurface when Lex is
out of here...he does that kind of thing." She said with a shrug.
Xander
sighed. "Have they put the fire out?"
Rue
nodded. Xander looked at Auron. "I can go see what the damage done
was..." Auron nodded. Xander looked at Sylvie. "Do you wanna
come...or stay?"
Sylvie
gave him a soft smile. "Of course. You're not going to get rid of me that
easy." She turned to Chaos and Auron. "Give Lex my love. I don' t
know what you're going to set up for visitors, but I'l be in as soon as I can."
Chaos
nodded. "Thank you Sylvie. And thank you Xander. I"m sorry this fell
on to your lap... it could've just as easily happened to any of us... most
likely Saffron..." she gave a sigh and turned back to Auron.
"Speaking of whom..."
Auron
shook his head. "I haven't told Saffron yet, and when I do, he'll not be
visiting for awhile."
Rue
smirked grimly. "He'll be worried though." She said softly. Auron
nodded, he was looking back toward the door in to the back, which was just
closing.
"Did
he come with you?" Auron asked, turning back to Rue.
"Who?"
Rue asked quirking an eyebrow.
"Sands..."
Rue's
eyebrow went up even further. "Sheldon's out of to..." She turned and
looked at the door to the back and shook her head. "Well you may be
getting Faal out of there sooner then you think..." She said to Chaos.
Xander
had paused. "Are you sure...I mean Lex isn't really up to seeing
anyone..."
Rue
snorted. "Sheldon knows what he's doing."
Xander
shook his head, but with Sylvie, stepped back outside and opened a shadow
portal. They arrived outside the apartment building. Xander cast a look up,
realizing it'd only been a couple hours before he'd been doing the same thing.
**
Lex
looked at Faal, but didn't answer, he curled up on his side, now that he was
out of the restraints.
"Because
it's a common response from some one in his position." Came Sands' voice
as he entered the room. He dropped on to the stool, wheeling it over to the
bed. "Kiddo, you NEVER make things easy." Sands said shaking his
head.
Lex
stared at him, blinking. "What are you doing here..." He muttered.
"Oh,
just a couple reasons." Sands said, with a gesture. "Been here
myself...well not HERE...but I've been committed." Sands turned an eye on
Faal. "You really should at least get those bandaged..." He nodded to
Faal's hands. "Go ahead. I got 'im." Sands was the only person Lex
was going to talk to and even if Lex didn't WANT to, Sands could get him to talk,
with out provoking him.
Faal
sat there for a moment looking at sheldon, then looked back at Lex. With a slow
nod he stood. He didn't know Sands as well as he'd like, but he knew enough
about him to know he would be good for Lex right now.
"Lexi...
i'll.. I'll be outside if you need me. " he said softly, hestitating a
moment longer then turned and walked slowly towards the door, feeling suddenly
deflated, all the energy drained out of him. Despite the pain he pulled the
door open and wandered slowly back to the nurses station.
**
Auron
looked at Chaos. "You wanna tell Faal about the apartment or should
I?" He asked softly.
Chaos
sighed and tugged on Auron's hand. "Come with me, and I'll tell him. You
can hold him down long enough for the nurses or whoever to treat him."
They
come up to Faal as he was arguing with a nurse. "No.. I promised him I'd
be right here... bandage them out here..."
Chaos
rolled her eyes. "Auron grab his arm in any place not burnt too
badly." she smiled at the nurse. "Where would you like him?"
the
nurse looked at the two of them positioned on either side of Faal with grips on
his upper arms, and smirked, tilting her head towards a room behind her. They
pushed and dragged him into the room and shoved him down onto a chair and
helped the nurse strip off the remains of his shirt.
Chaos
sucked in her breath. "Damn but he did a job on you. We'll get you healed
as soon as we get you back. Nate should be able to help out until we can get
ahold of one of the others... in the mean time, this will keep it fomr getting
worse."
Faal
shook his head, wincing only slightly as the nurse started to clean his wounds.
"I'm fine. I'll heal.. don't worry about it. The important thing is that
Lex is okay..."
"Faal...
there's no need to suffer through these when you don't have to. Let her clean
and dress them and then as soon as we can, get them healed." Chaos said
and groaned as he started to shake his head again. She gave him a cuff on the
side of the head which brought the nurses head up to see what was going on.
With an amused snort she went back to work.
"Faal..
we've got some bad news... Lex apparently got a little flame happy while you
guys were leaving. Xander caught the one but didn't notice a second one... it
started in the library.. Rue says the fire was limited to Lex's floor and the
library is a complete loss.. Xander and Sylvie went to find out more."
Faal
slouched donw a bit more as the nurses finished slathering on a thick layer of
antibiotic cream to his hands and arms and began wrapping them, getting Auron
to help. He looked up at Chaos. "Sweet Terra... he... do you think it was
intentional ... I can't see..."
"I
doubt it was intentional." Auron replied simply. "I can't imagine Lex
ever setting fire to books." He shook his head. "I never realized Lex
had that kind of control over his abilities. Young elementals usually
can't...mentally control it that well."
**
"Here's
the thing, Lexi." Sands said, shifting on the stool. "They're not
gonna let you uot of here, if you don't talk. Now I know Ally, and we've worked
it out that I can take on your case part time. If you don't talk to the
hospital's pychologist, you can talk to me...but you gotta talk, kid, or
there's no dice!"
Lex
rolled over on his back, an arm over his eyes. "I don' t wanna talk right
now..." Lex muttered.
Sands
shrugged. "You don't have talk about what happened tonight...You read that
book I gave you yet?"
"I
was reading it...when Xander showed up." Lex muttered, not moving his arm.
Sands smirked slightly. "He wanted to apologize...for bad things..."
"Its
not wrong to want to apologize for something bad, if you regret it." Sands
said softly. "And Xander wouldn't have apologized if he hadn't regreted
it."
"I
know he regrets it!" Lex snapped. "I just didn't want...NO!" He
rolled over suddenly, eyes flashing. "I know what you're doing,
Sands."
"And
what am I doing, Lexine?" Sands asked, very calm.
"You're
trying to get me to TALK." Lex sneered.
"No,
I believe I told you, you didn't have to talk, Lexi." Sands replied with a
neuteral expression. "So what'ya'd think of the book so far?" He
asked with curosity.
Lex
glared at him, refusing to answer. "Seriously, I wanna know. What'ya'd
think of it?" Sands encouraged.
"It's
alright." Lex answered finally after a moment.
"Shantaram's
very thought provoking, isn't it?" Sands asked, watching him. Lex was
picking at a wet string on his sleeve.
"It
is...very deep." Lex muttered.
"Where
ya at in it?" Sands asked softly.
"He's
running again." Lex muttered with a pout.
"Running
from his friends and family...and love." Sands said, in an even softer
tone. "It's understandable, considering what he's been through..."
Lex
was quiet for a long moment. "I don't wanna run any more..." He said in
a near whisper. He curled up smaller, and began crying again.
Sands
scooted the stool closer. "You don't have to run anymore...we don't want
you to." He replied. "How did it happen, Lex...what did he say that
set you off?"
"He
brought up Evie...and when I was seventeen...and...I realized EVERYTHING was my
fault...why?!" Lex sobbed.
Sands
leaned over, one hand pulling the nurse call light, the other touching Lex's
shoulder. "Lex, thre are some cases, where a person has no power over the
events that befall them...you're one of those rare cases. And you need to learn
to let things go...you need to learn that it's okay to trust..."
A
nurse appeared with another syringe. Lex hardly noticed as she slipped the
needle into his arm. "I'm going to help you with that, Lex...and so are
the others." Sands said seriously, standing. The nurse had given Lex
something to make his sleep, and his sobs were already residing.
Sands
convered with the nurse a moment, about rather or not a privet room was ready
for Lex and then left the nurse covering Lex up. He went down to the nurse's
station and the small examination room, where they others were. "We've
given him something to put him to sleep." Sands said. "He's
emotionally exhausted. They're moving him to a privet room."
"Did
you get him to talk?" Auron asked.
"A
little bit, nothing that we don't already know...what ever's between him and
Xander, he blames himself." Sands replied with a shrug. "Had to go
about it the round about way, and he rather cleverly picked up on what I was
doing from the start...but...a need to talk, made him give in."
Faal
looked up at Sands, his expression bleak. "He set his library on fire..
the apartment's gone. He's not going to take that well, Sheldon. He loved those
books. "He gave a shrug and looked away, the nurse scowling as she tried
to bandage his chest while he moved. "I can buy him more books.. he can
have mine .. but that's not going to matter to him... he burnt them... he's
going to be.. upset.. about that.."
Chaos
and Auron exchanged looks. "Sands... aside from Faal, you're the only one
who's ever gotten him to talk about anything... and I think Faal's not going to
be able to get through for a while.. not until Lex deals with a some of his
guilt." She gave Faal a stern look and he didn't say anything. "Take
care of our boy."
**
Sylvie
gave Xander's hand a squeeze and nodded towards the fire crew who were still
packing up. "Shall we go talk to them first? I'm not sure what we should
say about Lex.. it's not going to look good for him if they know he was
institutionalized tonight... "
Xander
shoved his way over to the fire team. "How bad's the damage?"
"Pretty bad, oddly only the third floor, we're looking for traces of how
it started in the library..." Some one answered. "We're also looking
for the owner..." The man gave Xander a look.
"He's
out of town." Xander answered simply. "I'm a friend of his."
"Well
you can poke around for anything that may have survived, but stay out of their
way." The man said with a wave.
Xander
took Sylvie's hand again and went into the building and up to the apartment. It
didn't look like the same apartment. Most of the damage had been done in the
library, and the hall, some of the fire having destoryed part of the master bed
room. Xander poked his head in the library and winced. With the fire crew in
it, he moved into what was left of the masterbed room.
The
dresser was gone, so was the closet, most of the bed. Xander sighed. It was
really quiet a depressing sight. Then he caught sight of something on the table
near the window on the side of the room that was still in tact.
The
only book left in the house in tact. A little smoke damage, Xander judged as he
picked up the leather bound book, but other wise it was fine. He turned it
over, then snorted. "Maybe this'll cheer him up." He said, handing
the book to Sylvie...
It
was the hard back copy of the 'The Club Dumas' Faal had given Lex.
**
"He'll
learn about the apartment soon enough." Sands said casually, his hands in
his pockets "I'll try to make sure I'm the one to tell him before the
other psychologist does. Lex definitely ain't gonna make it easy on this other
guy..."
Auron
smiled grimly to that. And was about to say something else, when the sound of a
crash came from down the hall. Followed by the sound of arguing. Sands turned
with out a word and headed back into the hall. Auron followed.
The
arguing was between a nurse and another man who could have been a doctor. Sands
slid around them into Lex's room, where another crash came. Lex had wedged
himself between some medical equipment, a straight jacket half on him. Two
orderly were trying to get to him.
"What
the FUCK is going on here?!" Sands snapped angrly.
"Who
the hell are you!?" The other man demanded moving into the room, the nurse
following.
"Sands,
out side psychologist brought in at the family's request." Sands replied
with a glare.
"Well
I happen to be the hospital's psycholgist, Dr. Blinken. And the patient, bit
me. Now he's been hysterical and high strung since he was brought in!" The
man replied arrongently.
"Bullshit,
he'd been given seditive when I'd left the room, not more then five minutes
ago!" Sands snapped back.
The
other man held up his hand, showing a black and blue bit mark. Sands had to bit
back the laugh.
"Now
it's state requirement that he be put in a straight jacket for safety, his own
of course. And he'll be put in the observation room." Blinken said.
"Put
him in the observation room, with OUT the straightjacket. you wanna drive him
further over the edge. He's lively to do more harm to himself IN The straight
jacekt. then out of it!" Sands snarled.
"You
don't have the authority to tell me how to run my department."
Lex
took that moment to try and bolt, he got around the two doctors. Sands was just
reaching for him the same time the orderly slammed him hard into the floor,
wrestling him into the straight jacket. Lex began screaming, trying to fight
back. One orderly's sleeve began to smoke. "SEDATE HIM!" Blinken
yelled over Lex's screaming. "Don't stand there, SEDATE HIM!"
The
nurse sprang to attention, sinking a syringe into Lex's neck, Lex screamed
more, then the drug took effect and he began to stop fighting less and less,
until they managed to do the straight jacket.
Sands
rounded on Blinken, grabbing the man by the tie, dragging him closer.
"This'll be on your head." Sands sneered dangerously.
Blinken
straightened his glasses. "For the next twenty four hours, he's the
hospitals responsibility. You can began your assement of him tomorrow."
Blinken pulled away from Sands and followed the orderly who were taking Lex to
the observation room.
Sands
moved over to Ally with a scowl. "Is this why you called me, Ally?"
"Blinken'll
have him so medicated by this time tomorrow, the kid'll never get out of
here." Ally replied.
Sands
snorted. "We'll see about that." He turned on his heel.
Faal
stood in the door way, a deep fury building in him. He overheard what Ally said
to Sands and turned, going after Blinkin.
Chaos
saw the look on his face. "Oh shit..Auron .. grab Faal... now..."
Auron
was just just reaching for him when Faal grabbed the man's shoulder, spinning
him around. He shrugged Auron off effortlessly and slugged the doctor, knocking
him across the hall and into the wall beside Chaos, who did her best to bite
back her smirk.
Auron
grabbed a hold of him again, trying not to think of the burns he was crushing
beneath his grip. "Damn it Faal.. now is not the time.."
Faal
glared, his eyes burning as he pointed at the doctor who was slowly picking
himself up off the floor. "He doesn't touch Lex again. Assign another
doctor or I take him out of here, NOW. That ...MAN.. isn't to have anything to
do with Lex..."
Sands
had turned back around at the sound, here came more orderly... He moved to
intercept them, and turned part way to glare at Blinken.
"If
you're not the one who signed the consent forums, you have no say."
Blinken snapped. "Now if you'd kindly remove yourself from these halls,
before I have you sedated as well!"
Faal
looked ready to lung, Sands held up a hand. "Faal, knock it off. Now I'm
going to go have a word with the direct and the board, and see if I can't get
another doctor, but there's nothing I can do until then."
"You
have no assosiation with this hosptial there for have no right to speak to the
board." Blinken suddenly snarled at Sands.
"I've
got enough evidence to get them to listen" Sands replied with a dark
smirk. "Don't assume Lex will be under your care for much longer."
"We'll
see about that." Blinken replied.
Faal
ignored everyone except the doctor in front of him. When he spoke, his voice was
low and cold as ice. "I don't know what you did to him to make him bite
you when he was already drugged, but he's not staying in that jacket, and
you're not getting anywhere near him."
Faal
gave a heave and Auron was sent stumbling in shock that he'd so easily been
flung off.. he'd had a good hold on the man ...
He
stalked past the others and when the orderlies tried to grab him he flicked a
wrist and sent them slamming against the walls, leaving a path straight to
Lex's room.
He
knelt down beside Lex, aware the others were in the door way, but no one made a
move towards him.. if they had they would've found it impossible to get close
to him as the very air around him seemed to crackle with energy. He stroked
Lex's cheek and saw the eyes flutter slightly as he whimpered. "I'm going
to get you out of this thing, little flame... don't worry.. I won't let them
hurt you anymore..." he said softly as he gently eased the jacket off of
him and scooped Lex into his arms.
He
turned and looked at Auron and Chaos in the door way, fighting the urge to just
take Lex away right then and there, but a glance at Sands made him sigh. Lex
needed to be here...
He
sat down on the small bed, laying Lex down beside him, placing his head on his
lap, stroking his hair as he glared at the others, daring them to do something.
Lex may need to be there, but no one was going to hurt him again. No more
straps or jackets or needles or rough handling... he glanced down at Lex,
tugging on the edge of the wet shirt and felt his anger grow as the traces of a
large bruise could already be seen over his ribs.
He'd
allow Sheldon in .. perhaps Ally. If they determined he needed medication,
fine.. but no one was touching Lex again..
No
one.
**
Blinken
rounded on the nursing staff. "I want the police here! Five minutes
ago!" Blinken snapped. "Tell them we've got a hostage sitiation. Tell
them some...LUNATIC is holding one of MY patients hsotage!!"
"Wait
a fuckin' minute!" Sands snapped as a nurse picked up the phone. "He
is NOT holding him hostage! There's no threat of harm what so ever! Unlike SOME
people."
'What
are you suggesting, Mr. Sands?" Blinken sneered.
"I'm
suggesting the cruel and unusual treatment of patients, incapable of defending
themselves! There's prison time behind that!" Sands snapped back.
"I
want him arrested as well." Blinken said to a nurse, pointing to Sands.
"Retract
your concent, Auron." Rue hissed.
"He
can't. " Sands said, stepping back. "The moment Lex became hostile
again, he became a liability and saftey issue. Auron's call over anything is
now in the state's hand." He looked at Auron, Chaos and Rue. "You
three stay here, Ally, lets go pay a visit to the director." Sands and
Ally headed down the hall.
Rue
looked from them, to the room with Faal and Lex, back at the nurse who was
calling the police. "No one's gonna get him out of there..." She
swore.
"Unless
Sands and Ally can convince the hospital and the police there's no
threat..." Auron muttered. Then he smirked grimly. "Can't say I blame
Faal...I'd probably do the same..."
Chaos
gave a groan as Blinkin waved at the orderlies who had picked themselves up off
the floor and headed for Lex's room. "Oh good god.. he's not going to
try..." She hissed and grabbed Auron's arm. "Doctor.. you do NOt want
to do that..."
Blinkin
stopped at the door and turned to scowl at Chaos, pointing a finger at her
imperiously. "You stay out of this or you'll be joining your friends in
jail. He's my patient. " he waved at the orderlies to go in first, but
enough of them were still smarting from being tossed through the air they were
a bit slow in doing so.
Chaos
raised an eyebrow at the doctor's comments to her and smiled and shrugged.
"I warned you." She turned and leaned back against the wall.
Auron
raised an eyebrow at her. "We should try to stop them... "
Chaos
smiled. "I did.. I warned them... my concious is clean."
There
was a startled curse from the room and several thuds and crashes. Chaos seemed
intently interested in a hang nail and didn't look up as the orderlies came
running from the room. She glanced over finally. "hmm... Doc is still in
there... idiot."
**
Blinkin
was standing against the wall, a look of sheer fury on his face as he glared at
the last of his orderlies as they fled the room. He turned to look back at the
man sitting on the bed, holding his patient.
He
swallowed as he stared through the oddly thick air at them. He sat there, shirtless,
covered in bandages, his long blonde hair stirring slightly around his
shoulders as if a breeze were blowing. The look in his eyes as he stared at
Blinkin... the doctor felt a shudder go through him.
The
red head lay calmly, whimpering occasionally, his head pillowed on the blondes
lap as he stroked his hair. An innocent enough scene except for the feeling of
menace that radiated off the man. Blinkin jumped slightly as the man suddenly
spoke. "You've hurt him.. you're not touching him again. I'll kill you
before you get so much as a single foot closer to him. I suggest you leave.
NOW."
Blinken
sputtered and did the very foolish thing of opening his mouth and stepping
forward at the same time. "I suggest you releash MY patient this istance
before you make matters worse for yourself." The bravado was fading
however as he stared...
Outside
in the hall, came the sound of several sets of footsteps. Blinken turned his
head toward the door. "That would be the police. THis is your last
chance." Blinken said, finding a little more courage.
The
officer who was clearly in charge looked at the others in the hall.
"What's the sitituation?" He noticed Rue, then noticed the other
woman was Chaos. Mack, as happened to be what the ladies knew him best as, gave
a sigh. "Lady Chaos, Rue...please don't tell me this is one of
yours..."
Rue
snorted. "It's not exactly what you think, Mack." She looked at
Chaos.
Chaos
smiled at Mack. "Hey Mack.. yes and no. It's my son. .he had a little
incident and we brought him here. HOWEVER, Mr. Dominic took offense at some
extrememly rough treatment Lex received at the hands of Dr. Blinkin. The Doc,
got decked quite squarely and called you guys. Faal's is the room protecting
Lex from him now. You know, Mr.Dominic, Mack, so you know LEx is perfectly safe
with him, and as long as Dr. blinkin doesn't make any move to harm my son,
he'll be fine."
Mack
blinked at Chaos. It wasn't the mention of a son or the calm tone as she
spoke.. but the clam tone in conjucture with her mention of her son being
treated poorly. "Are you alright, Lady? You seem.. well.. If it's your son
and the situation is as you say, then I'd expect to be her to arrest YOU, no
offense..."
Chaos
smirked at him. "No offense, Mack. Dominic beat me to it. Lex is very
special to him and he's very protective of him. You're not going to be able to
'arrest' him. You'll never get him away from Lex as long as Dr. Blinkin is in
this building and has any sort of access to him. Our own psycologist, Dr. Sands
here can fill you in the good doctors bad behavior towards this patient. "
**
Blinkin
looked back and forth from the door way to the bed, wondering what was taking
the police so long.. he'd heard them arrive...
"You're
next step had better be towards the door, 'Doctor'..."
Blinkin
snapped around with a glare. "Go ahead and bluster all you want, mister.
The minute those cops drag your ass out of here, the boy is mine again, and
i'll do as i see fit." he snarled, making a fits and taking a step closer.
**
There was the sound of a crash and someone came flying out of the room and
slammed into the wall across the hall.
Chaos
sniffed and smiled at Mack and his men . "that would be the doctor in
question... don't go in there, Mack. the boy is fine and I'm sure once Faal
knows that man is no longer a threat to lex, he'll turn himself over to
you."
Rue
had to turn away from the scene to hid the smirk. Mack blinked. "Lady this
is really...well, it's never a dull moment when anyone around you is
involved..." Mack said with a slight smile and shook his head.
Rue
laughed, knowing it was really a compliment. "Trust us on this Mack, it'll
fine, IF the good doctor there stays away."
The
doctor staggered to his feet, a little disorinated but seemed to grasp the situation.
"I WANT THAT MAN ARRESSTED!" The doctor raged.
Mack
raised an eyebrow, "This is the man who assulted you?" Mack looked
into the other room. He had to admit, he wasn't about to go in there. He turned
back to Blinken. "I understand you provoked him. If that's the case,
charges of aggravated assult can't be reached. And it in fact, COULD be
considered self defense. On the hand, if you provoked him, we'd have to arrest
you for disorderly conduct and hostilty." Mack smiled pleasently.
"I
did NOT...He...That Is MY patient! Now he needs to be isolated and given
medication, he is a danger to himself and others!" Blinkin raged.
Mack
looked back at the room. "The red head...he hard looks dangerous at this
moment. KEep it up doctor, and we'll be escorting you out, that's your only
warning. In the mean time, " Mack turned to Ally and two nurses. "Is
there clear evidence of mistreatement?"
Ally
smiled grimly and nodded. "Several witness statments, and I imagine
physical evidence in the form of bruises. "
Mack
nodded. "There'll be an investigation into the mistreatment, if the
witnesses could give witness reports. "
The
doctor looked enraged the police would even treat him in such away, he wasn't
going to stand for this...
Chaos
turned and smirked. "I'd be happy to give you my statement. I think i can
safelt say we all would. Do you perfer us to do it here, or would you rather we
go donw to the station?"
"NO!"
Blinkin screamed and grabbed at the closet officer, taking his gun.
Auron
slammed his fist into the doctor's gut and smiled with a satifactory snort as
the man dropped the gun and slumped to the floor, retching. He turned to Mack.
"I doubt you'll be able to argue that the man is clearly not in a
postition to oversee the care of patients... ?"
Mack
snorted and motioned for his men, who quickly hand cuffed the doctor, returning
the gun to the fiercely blushing officer beside him.
The
assorted nurses and oderlies stood and watched as the cops dragged him to his
feet and escorted him from the building, blustering the entire way that they
couldn't do this. The head nurse smirked and started to applaud and was quickly
followed by the rest of the staff.
Chaos
smirked and gave Auron a pat on the shoulder. "You enjoyed that far too
much, sweetheart."
Mack
cleared his throat. "Lady... do you think I might speak to Mr.
Dominic?"
Chaos
smiled and waved him on through. "Go ahead, Mack. Just don't rush over to
the bed or anything."
Mack
swallowed and took a deep breath. "I perfer leavin' these super power
types to you guys... you all just creep me out.. no offense.."
Chaos
chuckled. "None taken."
