Demons

Demon-kind is almost impossible to completely catalogue or categorize. There are far too many crossbreeds and so forth that 'muddle' the classifications, and so all we can give you is a breif insight into some.

First off, it's important to note that not all Demons are the stereotyped 'devils' from the bible and religious myth. There are many types and only some are confined to Hell, and only some can be summoned from Hell, banished back to Hell. exorcised.. etc etc.  To better understand this, you need to understand the differences between full-blood demons, half-demons and full demons.

Full Blood Demons - a Full Blood demon is a being who has no mortal blood whatsoever and can not leave Hell without assistance. These beings do not in any way bare a resemblance to humans. They vary in power and strength, from the 'low level' demons, which can be summoned and controlled with spells, to a mid level demon, those which can accept 'invitations' into the mortal realms and possess unwary mortals, all the way to the higher level demons, most of whom have no contact with mortal kind at all and are mostly considered myth. Full Blood demons are extremely susceptible to Holy relics and items of all forms and faiths, as long as the belief  in them is strong. They can't set foot  on holy ground, even while within a' host'. The only known exception to this rule are those summoned by a strong enough individual from within holy ground .. such as a Soul Summoner, Soul Reaper, Hell Elemental,  Death Elemental or Demon Lord... and even those are limited to the types of demons they can summon within holy ground.

Half Demon - A Half-Demon is generally a being possessing mortal blood, and thus a soul, although there have been cases of those with fae blood, rather than mortal. Whether the result of a 'bargain' with a full-blood demon, or a tryst with another half-demon, they almost always resemble their 'mortal' parent. Some bare visible evidence of their demon blood from birth or early childhood, but most grow into their powers. A Half-Demon's children will also be half demon.. no matter the blood line of the other parent. The demon blood will win out in almost all cases. So for instance, a half demon has a child with a werewolf.... their child will be a half demon with werewolf tendencies. There is no such thing as a 'quarter demon'.. the blood stays at 'half strength' reguardless. Although, after so many generations, the demon blood can simply 'vanish' from the family for seemingly no apparent reason. This has also been known to happen  on rare occasions in second or thrid generation half demons.  Most half demons are not susceptible to holy items or holy ground , although they may experience some discomfort or unease. They can take part in religious services with little or no problems.. even holy communion should they wish to.There are even some half demons who have become priests/ ministers/reverends/nuns.. etc.

Full Demon - A Full Demon is not a full BLOOD demon. Most known Full Demons are actually Half Demons who have come into and embraced their full powers. This can happen at any age.  A Half Demon's power can awaken when they are two years old, twenty years old... two hundred years old... And the same can be said for the full awakening. It could happen a year after they first start showing their abilities, or ten years or a hundred years... or never. The majority of half demons never come into their full power. ( Most of the Thrones of Hell are held by Full Demons, but not all. Any being who resides or chooses to reside in Hell that is powerful enough to win a throne and hold onto it can rule. Only a couple of the Thrones have remained within Families - The Chaos Throne being one of them. ) Full Demons are susceptible to holy items to a much stronger degree then they were before they came into their full powers... and can enter holy ground. However, while they are not  usually repelled or seriously harmed by them, they tend to be uncomfortable  and can suffer some pain  and even become sick if the faith behind it is strong enough. Full Demons do however share the weakness to Silver that their Fullblood brethren do. They are unable to heal wounds from silver weapons, and become deathly ill from prolonged exposure to the metal. A collar or manacle of silver can also render them powerless, the same way iron does to fae.

Known Breeds

Fëanor Demon Fëanor demons are one of the hardest to classify. Chaos demons, as they are better known, have a wide variety of abilities and traits that vary from person to person. The other 'half' of their bloodline can also influence things. All chaos demons have some form of 'mimicing' ability - whether it be fullblown shapeshifting or a bit of voice mimicry. Another 'trait' that has been noted to be fairly consistant is coloring. When a half chaos demon begins to take on their 'demon form', the colors blue or purple tend to show themselves in some way. Chaos demons are also very adept at learning magic and 'gaining' abilities that 'should' only be used by another species or breed.
The majority of chaos demons are weak bloodlines, since the royal bloodline long ago wiped out the strongest rivals. The only Chaos Demons to have achieved 'full demon hood' in millenia, have been from the royal line.

Gorath Demon - Also known as Hell Raiser demons, Hell Raisers are second to chaos Demons in the inconsistancies of their abilites and appearances. Again, the other half of their 'bloodline' can play a very large part in this. Most Hell Raisers have some sort of visible sign of their bloodline at birth, although this can vary greatly ; anything from an odd birthmark, to horns, scales or extra appendages. Almost all Hell Raisers can control shadows; whether to simply mask their presence or hide something... or to alter them into portals and use them to aid and later spells. Again, one of the most stable traits of HellRaiser blood is coloring in their demon forms; either a dark mossy green or a goldenrod yellow. Hell Raisers tend to be collectors of spells and magical items and also have a tendency to be involved in power plays or behind the scene schemes...

Aerandir Demons - An extremely rare breed of demon. Most consider them as mythical as the highest of the fullblood demons. Aerandir demons can be identified by the single horn growing from their forehead; usually black in color. Some believe that their horn is the seat of their power, and whether this is true or not, it does serve as a focus for some 'spells'. Aerandir have a natural ability to see through glamours and disguise spells, as well as a natural immunity to many types of magic. It's a popular belief... and joke... that Aerandir are the equivilent of Unicorns, and the similarities between some of the abilities credited to them do lend some credence to this..

Turgon Demons - Turgon demons seem to have been one of the models for the Christian Devil. While not the most impressive in the magic department, they tend to be very physically powerful. Horns are the most common physical trait aside from size and muscle, and coloring tend towards reds and blacks. Turgon demons thrive on battle and destruction ; even in their 'human forms' they seek out jobs and life styles that favor these -  mercenaries, terrorists and demolisions experts seem to be favorites...

Ingwë Demons - these are the other model for the Christain devil... and the one popularly beleived to be behind 'all that' . In their demon forms, they also lean towards reds and blacks in coloring, have a tendency to horns, tails and occasionally wings.. and all Ingwë Demons have cloven hooves for feet. They also have an insatiable hunger for mayhem and can usually be found involved in terrorist activities. They also have a tendency to gravitate into 'organized crime' and the drug trade. Any happenings that involve large scale death or illness with utter confusion and chaos, usually tend to have Ingwë  involvement.

These are just a few of various types of demons. More will be added in time, I'm sure.
Just keep in mind that the word 'demon' does not mean evil. It does tend to mean 'trouble, however...
